Safety Manager, Mixed-Use Multi-Family Construction

Position Summary:

Provide day-to-day support for all project site safety needs and lead Company safety programs

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Build company culture by modeling exemplary professional conduct
• Primary interface with outside agencies regarding safety programs & their contents
• Oversee development, implementation, & maintenance of Injury & Illness Prevention Program & other required safety programs designed to ensure compliance & enforcement of all applicable federal, state and local rules and regulations
• Assist with site safety & health inspections & verify that corrective action has been taken
• Assist in investigation of all injuries & accidents to determine cause & potential corrective action according to jurisdictional requirements
• Arrange all applicable management & supervisory training as required by Injury & Illness Prevention Program
• Maintain a Company commitment to accident prevention by expecting safe conduct on the part of all managers, supervisors and employees
• Assign responsibility to all levels of site management, supervision & employees, & holding them accountable for accident prevention and safety
• Consistently & fairly enforce all Company safety rules, regulations & policies
• Monitor budget & report on costs for the Injury & Illness Prevention Program to inform purchasing decisions of safety materials, safety equipment, personal protective equipment, etc.
• Order safety equipment, safety supplies & first aid supplies & distribute to managers, supervisors & employees as needed
• Clarify safety responsibilities within contract documents & ensure that all individuals & subcontractors follow Company safety policies
• Daily site safety walks and documentation
• Interface with staff & clients on successful development of appropriate safety plans, hazard assessments, risk registries / critical risk protocols & audits
• Determine compliance with legislation & relevant additional standards, policies & procedures
• Recommend corrective measures & follow through on their implementation
• Prepare & maintain employee training schedules to provide adequate time for employee safety training
• Assist with new employee orientation training
• Prepare & update the emergency response plan as necessary
• Ensure that records & postings required by WISHA / OSHA are kept current
• Prepare weekly safety topics & ensure that weekly site safety meetings are properly documented
• Act as a leader in Company safety policy & setting a good example for all supervisors & employees
• Coach & assist site personnel to achieve a safe work place
• Create & implement a Safety Reward program for sites in conjunction with Company site management staff
• Review of critical hoisting & large equipment placement & activities

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

• Understand, and ensure projects are run in accordance with, all Company policies & procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements:
• 5+ years’ experience in a Safety role particularly with fall protection/working at heights, working on large scale project with multiple sub-trades
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English (Spanish is a plus)
• OSHA / WISHA 30-hour Certification
• CPR & First Aid Certified
• Strong documentation capacity with the ability to meet stringent deadlines
